Retort packaging is very advanced packaging solution for high temperature sterilization for long shelf life at ambient temperature, not in freezer.

First, it requires high barrier. Usually Al foil is the substrate to provide the barrier property.

Second, special adhesive must be applied, enables the laminated film withstand the sterilization process.

Third, inner layer should be food grade and stable during sterilization.
